Identification vs. Authentication
Identification
WHO is the signer?Identification establishes the identity of a person before they sign. It answers the question: is this person really who they claim to be? Methods include ID document scans, bank-based verification (iDIN), and government identity systems.
Authentication
HOW do they prove it?Authentication is the method used to verify the signer's identity at the moment of signing. It provides the proof: a one-time SMS code, an email link, a DigiD login, or a qualified certificate from a trust service provider.

How it works
Choose your method
Select the verification method(s) required for each signer when creating a signing request.

The signer receives the request and completes the chosen authentication step before accessing the document.
